We’re staying pretty low key these days. This has been a rough couple of weeks for Tim. He had chemo a week ago, his ascites tapped on Monday (8 1/2 liters), and an endoscopy a couple days ago to clear out his stent. He’s been really miserable and is losing weight. Yesterday, Tim developed a 102 fever, indicating possible infection from the endoscopy. So, now he’s in the hospital getting antibiotics to prevent septicemia. It’s likely he’ll be hospitalized at least for a couple days. We're hoping he'll be back home for Thanksgiving.
Paul had a few tribulations of his own. Paul started having severe lower back/lumbar muscle spasms. He first went to see our GP who wanted to make sure there was nothing spinal/cancer related. Paul checked out ok, so he was referred to a PT. The PT gave Paul several exercises which he diligently followed, only to have the spasms get worse. On his return to Kaiser, another doc felt the best thing would be to hold off PT until he is much better/healed. That plus higher doses of ibuprofen and other meds plus some icing and heat. So far, that seems to be working.
